September 26, 2020 - VIRTUAL EVENT
UPDATE FOR 2020 PARK2PARK RACE
Are you currently registered for the 2020 race? If so, please read below ... we are now a virtual event!
First of all, we want to thank you for choosing to run the Holland Hospital Park2Park Race! The Park2Park is the largest annual fundraiser for Neighbors Plus (www.neighborsplus.org), a small non-profit in Holland, Michigan. While we had truly hoped to host our 16th annual race as an in-person event, health concerns, state restrictions, and a permit denial have forced us to move this to a virtual event.
While a virtual event isn’t what we had hoped for, we still think it can be a lot of fun! You can do it any time and at any location. You can run (or walk) at your own pace with your favorite running partners, whenever and wherever you like. Whether you’re running your first mile or your twentieth half-marathon, we want to be a part of your success!
If you have already registered for the Park2Park, you have some options:
- Run the Park2Park virtually! You’ll have between September 26 – October 17 to run the race virtually. If you are local to Holland, or still want to visit our beautiful city this Fall, we’ll provide the course map for both races (please note, you’ll likely have to make some minor adjustments, as the fairgrounds where we start and finish will not have open gates). As a virtual runner, you’ll still receive a race t-shirt and finisher award (medal for half-marathon runners or a pin for 5k runners). You will be able to access your runsignup account to enter your finish time, though we will not be able to provide age group awards this year. We will also offer two dates for drive-through packet pick-up (dates will be emailed to virtual runners once confirmed).
- Not able to run virtually this year, but still want to support Neighbors Plus? You can choose to have your race fee become a donation. Neighbors Plus is a small non-profit on the north side of Holland, Michigan. In fiscal year 2018-2019, we served 1,313 individuals, with approximately 85% of those being children. Our motto at Neighbors Plus is Better Together, and it has proven true time and time again. We are here to serve and walk alongside those in the Holland and surrounding communities that may need a friend, mentor, or coach. Your donation helps us do just that!
- Defer your registration to 2021. You will be able to access your runsignup account to defer your entry to the 2021 race, being held September 25, 2021. Please note, if you defer your entry to 2021, you will not receive a t-shirt or finisher award for the 2020 race.
- Request a refund. Please contact Jennifer at firstname.lastname@example.org to request a refund. Please note, your refund will include your race fee, but not the processing fee.
We are so grateful for our donors and supporters, and we are still very excited to connect with you virtually this year. Again, thank you for choosing to run the Holland Hospital Park2Park Half-Marathon & 5k Race and for your support of Neighbors Plus.

RACE DAY INFORMATION
In case of threatening weather: The Park2Park events may be delayed or canceled if any of the following weather conditions exist: Tornado Warning, Tornado Watch, Thunderstorm, or Heavy Rain. The start of any event can be delayed one hour from the posted start time if any of these conditions exist. Race directors reserve the right to cancel the event in the case of Tornado Warnings, Thunderstorms or other extreme weather conditions. If threatening weather forces cancellation of the event, no refunds can be provided, since funds were already spent in preparation for Race Day. T-shirts will be distributed.
Injury response:If medical attention is needed on the course, a Sheriff Paramedic Unit, two ambulances and two firefighter units as first responders will be available. For all medical events or injuries, the Paramedic Unit will be called to treat, and an ambulance dispatched for transporting a runner at their own expense. Runners who are unable to finish due to injury (cramps, blisters, exhaustion, twisted ankles, etc) can be picked up by the Park2Park course monitor and brought by vehicle to the finish line with a phone call. Any aid station or course volunteer can call the course monitor to the location of the runner. Course volunteers are authorized to call emergency medical services for any potentially dangerous injury. Runners must be prepared for competitive runs; extend yourself only as far as your conditioning. Pacing yourself and maintaining adequate hydration will ensure a safe and successful event.
